happy anniversary

You don’t need a lot of stamp sets or a bunch of supplies to make an awesome card.  Sometimes, the best designs are the ones that are the simplest!  Since I have been working on an upcoming watercolor class, I have had my paints and brushes on my desk for a few weeks.  This has inspired me create a card with watercolor – and it’s one that I’m sure anyone can pull off!

I started with 140 lb hot pressed watercolor paper, my favorite for cards.  It doesn’t warp since it is quite heavy, and the smooth surface is perfect for stamping.  I watercolored three loose circles in primary colors, keeping them pretty light by using lots of water.  I didn’t want the color to be too saturated, or else it could be difficult to read the sentiment.

Then, I stamped the “happy” outline (from Halftone Happy) in black ink once my paint dried.   To finish the card, I mounted the watercolor panel to a black card base, and embossed “anniversary” in white onto a strip of black cardstock. DSC_0020-2

I hope you give this a try! If you do, make sure to share it with us so we can check it out! 🙂
