I Miss You

Hi everyone! It’s Jocelyn here, and I’m sharing a pair of clean and simple cards with the Painted Flowers set. These flowers are beautiful, and I wanted to put the focus of the card on them.

I Miss You

Instead of inking the multi-step flowers, I stamped the outlines of flowers and leaves from the Painted Flowers set and watercolored them. I was inspired by the colors in THIS beautiful image, although I ended up with a less intense version. Once the flowers were dry, I fussy-cut them.

I stamped enough flowers and leaves for two cards. Here’s the second:

Thank You

For both cards, I added a little gold splatter in the background, and then layered the flowers with different heights of foam tape. The “thank you” sentiment is from the Magnolias for Her set, and the “I miss you” is from the Painted Butterflies set.

I Miss You

This post is my final Altenew post. I want to thank Tasnim and Jen for having me on the team! I will miss my teammates–they are all very sweet and very talented!

Thanks for stopping by!

White Moon

Hello, it’s Marika here. Another fortnight has gone and it is my turn to host the Altenew blog. Today I am featuring To the Moon– set and Painted Butterflies– set. I wanted to make a white moon that has that beautiful halo around it in a very dark sky. I tried to do this in many different ways and finally I came up with the idea of stamping the base layer on a very light ink and then heat embossing the third layer and then getting this tone-on-tone look. I’m very pleased how to moon looked at the end – hopefully you like it too. Here is my card

I made a video tutorial how I made this card. I apologize already advance. I filmed this twice and on both times half the footage was missing – luckily combining the two I was able to edit together this tutorial. Hopefully you can still find it helpful.  You can watch it here or in HD in YouTube.

Thank you for stopping but today. See you soon!

Paint the Sky with Butterflies

Hello!

Tasnim here, and today I have a clean and simple card for you using the Painted Butterflies set.

This card also features some new products which will be coming soon to the store!

Painted Butterflies

I stamped each butterfly in two coordinating colors of inks (Altenew inks!) and finished the card with a little splatter from Heidi Swapp color shine in Primrose, and a sentiment from Label Love.

Painted Butterflies-01

Mark your calenders for May 15 – the day the new inks will be released. I have used seven colors here, and there are five more!

Happy crafting!

Another way of watercoloring a Poppy

Hello!

It’s Marika here and today I am going to share with you another way to colour a poppy and a butterfly from Painted Poppy and Butterflies sets. Two weeks ago I showed how I coloured this poppy with traditional watercolours. Today I am using Distress Inks and I am using all three layers of this builder stamp set to gradually build up the colours. I actually made two cards with this technique. I got this idea and tried it out and this first card came from there. Then I put my camera rolling and all that looseness and softness that I achieved just colouring was gone but I hope you can still get the idea how this is done.

Here is my  how-to -video if you wish to see me colour this card.

I hope you like these cards and got some inspiration. See you soon!

We have a lovely treat for you- our guest designer, Marika, is joining us once again with a stunning set of cards!

Hi, it is Marika from Me and Minime crafting again. Firstly, I would like to give my humble thank you for all the kind comments given to my last card set. I was so pleased to see that you liked my cards and shared you thoughts so openly – it made my day! Thank you.
Last time I made a set of three cards sharing a common theme. This time I created the cards  using craft cardstock and coloured pencils. Enjoy!

Stamp sets used are Halftone Hello, Label Love, Lacy Scrolls, Painted Butterflies, Peony Scrolls and Whimsical flowers. I started with stamping the sentiments using either Versamark or a black pigment ink and then heat embossed them with either Vanilla White or Clear Matt Dull embossing power. Then the main images were stamped using either white pigment ink (Lacy Scrolls, solid image) or Memento Desert Sand (outline images) and then coloured with Derwent Coloursoft Pencils or Faber-Castell Polychromos Color Pencils (greens).
Since heat embossing resists the ink, I was able to stamp images after stamping the sentiment and still got the illusion that flowers and leaves are behind the sentiment. The “Love U”- card is made in different order: At first, I stamped the main images with white pigment ink and then the sentiment with black pigment in so the white shines through just a tiny bit.
Thank you Tasnim and Jennifer for this great opportunity to be your guest. It’s been a wonderful experience. Thank you very much!
Thank you SO much for delighting us today with these cards! You are amazing, Marika!
